WHO ARE WE? Sister-friend Circles are virtual small group mentoring communities, committed to personal prayer and spiritual growth. We are women of faith 35+ who have chosen to utilize our personal and professional talents and skill to empower the next generation of leaders.
OUR MISSION? Our mission is to preserve, protect, and pass on our biblical heritage. With spirit-led compassion; we offer hope and healing to families, communities, and places of worship.
OUR VISION? We envision launching small group fellowships nationwide to support, inspire, and connect women who love God’s word and desire to grow in faith and wisdom. Our virtual educational venues are offered for personal, professional, and spiritual enrichment and growth.

Be inspired as we study the heart of God by the beauty of God’s dream As we study the You will be inspired and enriched with practical tools to live by. You will also learn from inspiring mentors with S.M.A.R.T. led curriculum, written by our Educational Advisor, Dr. Wilhemina McKinney.

Meet Your Team Leaders
Brenda Joyce Johnson is the founder of The Get Noticed Academy, LLC and Sister-friend Circles. She is a Master Image and Etiquette professional with a personal and professional development career spanning over 3 decades. As an author, mentor, and coach, Brenda’s passion is to help women comprehend and communicate their voice and value personally, professionally, and spiritually. Her first book, Get Noticed! Insider Secrets to A Confident & Classy Image was written in 2016 and is a contemporary guide to personal and professional excellence. Available soon–The Get Noticed Woman: Kingdom Keys to Influence & Excellence will inspire and rekindle faith-filled living during challenging and traumatic seasons of life. This biblical expose will also awaken spirit-filled women to the power of their potential as His light-bearers for such a time as this.
Brenda earned her BA in Business Communications and Fashion Merchandising from West Virginia State University. She was ordained to ministry in 2000 and again in 2015. She has been married 47 years to The Rev. Dr. Lonnell E. Johnson, and they are the parents of two adult daughters and grandparents to four-year-old Kingtson.
Dr. Wilhemina H. McKinney is the Educational Advisor for the Get Noticed Academy. She is a life-long global educator, mentor, and coach who has dedicated her career to supporting systematic growth and development in public schools for all service branches of the military. She has held positions at the Pentagon and the Department of Defense Schools around the world as an Instructional Systems Specialist. She has trained and mentored military spouses on all levels from privates to generals and has been a teacher on many classroom grade levels. She loves pursuing growth in Christ and is a graduate of both Pathways 2 Prayer and the Get Noticed Academy Leadership Institute.
Wilhemina has a BS in Vocal Music from FAMU, Tallahassee, Florida; an MA in Human Relations and Management, Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri and Doctor of Education in Education Leadership, Argosy, University, Washington, DC. She has been married 48 years to Gene. Their only child and son, Zuberi, changed his address from earth to heaven as the result of a car accident when he was a freshman at FAMU.
2021 Legacy Leaders & Co-Leads
Each small group is led by a Legacy Leader and Co-Leader. Legacy Leaders are spirit-led, compassionate, and professional women of the Word who are committed and dedicated to providing a safe space for healthy learning and spiritual growth. They have distinguished themselves by years of ministry and servant-leadership service.
Becky O’Brien, Leader is a first-class leader of leaders and a “lover of vision.” She is the visionary behind the course, Creating and Living Your Vision. Becky has a passion for helping women create and maintain a path to optimal wellness both physically and spiritually. For almost 25 years, she has managed a successful wellness business, Optimal Wellness, with the Shaklee Corporation.
For 10 years, Becky held leadership positions, including President, in BNI (Business Network International) and was a founding leader of the Naturally Healthy Women Meetup. She has been a speaker at both women’s ministry and professional events for organizations, such as the Chamber of Commerce, Optimist Club and the Rotary Club. She recently completed certification as a Lead Mentor with the GNA Leadership Institute, a 4-month leadership development course designed to help entrepreneurs and ministry leaders customize a business or ministry concept from start to finish. She received her B.S. from James Madison University and served as a public school speech pathologist for 15 years. She has been married for 44 years to her husband, Mike. The O’Briens have two adult sons and a granddaughter.
Margaret Short, Co-leader to Becky began ministry at the age of 16 when she developed a pre-teen summer Bible Program in Manassas, Virginia. As an adult, she served as Youth Ministry Director for over 25 years. Margaret has led Women’s Bible Study and currently serves as Deaconess of Prayer for Centre Church in Centreville, Virginia. She is also a graduate of Pathways 2 Prayer and serves as a Legacy Leader with the Get Noticed Academy. As a Health Coach, Margaret is Board Certified by the AADP to help her clients achieve and excel in their health and fitness goals through accountability, communication and encouragement. Since 1996, she has been a Distributor/Leader with the Shaklee Corporation U.S., a health and wellness company.
Margaret lives in Old Town Manassas, VA with her husband Bryan. They have two adult daughters and 2 granddaughters. She enjoys being a grandmother, fermenting, organizing, reading and running. Her life’s mission is to live a life of excellence that brings glory to God; as well as to communicate, encourage and lead others to reach their full potential in Christ.
Karen Bowens, Leader is a woman gifted with insight and wisdom. She has a passion for mentoring women to help them flourish and grow in the Word of God and prayer. In particular, she enjoys supporting K-12 classroom educators. Her background includes facilitating grant writing workshops, health educator for Meharry Medical College, HIV/AIDS educator, and more. She has been a member of her home church since 1998, where she has served in many departments, including children’s church, choir, greeters and the audio-visual team. Karen is an invaluable member of the GNA and certified as a Lead Mentor.
Karen earned her B.A. in Journalism and Public Relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is currently employed as the Resident Services Director at the local Housing Authority where she provides support for low-income residents in areas of education, health, and finances. Karen lives in Fayetteville North Carolina and is married to Derrick, with an adult daughter and grandson.
Cynthia Y. Crayton, Co-Leader to Karen has a strong background in multi-national corporate management, where she held positions with both IBM for more than 25 years, and she was with Canon USA for 10 years. She is known for her ability to train and coach young women as they advance in their careers. Since retiring from the corporate world, Cynthia serves in her local church in areas of church administration, and she has a passion for women’s ministry. As an invaluable member of the GNA, for several years, Cynthia has served the founder in several areas of administration. She is a graduate of the GNA Leadership Academy and certified as a Lead Mentor.
Cynthia earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Finance from Jersey City State University, Jersey City, NJ and a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from New Life Bible College in Temple, Maryland. Cynthia plans to continue her pursuit of a PhD in Biblical Studies. She has been married for 25 years to M. Anthony Crayton. They are blessed to have two adult children; a son and daughter and five grandchildren.
Joanne Petrizzo, Leader (small group for singles) has always been drawn to people to lend support and encouragement. She loves walking alongside them to help them succeed and find their purpose and worth. She’s been a servant-leader in church ministry for over 23 years. Having gone through the trauma of divorce, she is particularly drawn to minister to single women of all ages. She has co-led a church women’s growth group and also been President of Business Networking International in Woodbridge, Virginia. Both her ministry and professional life experiences have enabled her to lead and mentor teams for personal and professional development.
Her goal is to help people to love themselves; as well as find hope and healing. It is not uncommon for people to hear her say, “Love everyone, as you never know what is going on in people’s lives!” She treasures being a graduate of Pathways 2 Prayer as well as taking an active role in a ministry of incredible sister-friends who share her passion for being a Titus II mentor. Joanne is the mother of two adult sons. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Fashion Buying and Merchandising from the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology, New York City, NY.
Mary Worsham, Leader is a multi-talented woman of God who serves with boundless energy. Having grown up in the military and as a pastor’s daughter, she has served in the body of Christ for more than 25 years. She has worked in all facets of ministry, including small groups, worship leader and president of women’s ministry. She enjoys travelling, entertaining, and working with different cultures and ethnicities.
Helping individuals identify their spiritual gifts and running after God’s heart is Mary’s passion. She is currently a supervisor in the field of clinical social work and has worked to minister to all age groups for about 20 years. She is an experienced trainer and coach; working with various age groups and people from all stations in life. As a mentor and coach with the Get Noticed Academy, she is excited about being a vessel used by God to pour into the lives of women.
Kay Sander, Co-Leader, Co-Leader to Mary, is on a mission! She believes that if God calls you to something, He will equip you to fulfill the calling. As a business professional and ministry leader, she has found countless opportunities to exercise her leadership skills. For 10 years, she led a prayer ministry at a local nursing home and served in many other outreach ministries. She and her husband are blessed to be the founders and former directors of The Barnabus Program, a pen pal ministry for college age students at her church. Currently, Kay enjoys being a Sonshine Sister, a diverse prayer group of women. Kay is also a graduate of Pathways 2 Prayer.
For almost two decades, she has found joy as a business coach in the wellness industry by mentoring individuals who want to be proactive in taking care of their health. After completing her Master’s Degree in Speech Therapy, at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, Kay taught children and teens to build their confidence by correcting their speech challenges. Kay and her husband Steve are the proud parents of two adult sons; cherish their daughters-in-love and adore their four grandchildren.
